Diaspora Connect: A Pathway for African Academics living abroad to contribute to the development of Africa

I was invited by AAU TV to take part in a TV interview as part of a program dubbed Diaspora Connect, dedicated to showcasing the impacts of the academics in the diaspora to their home countries in Africa. As part of this engagement, they are producing a documentary on what impact an academic in the Diaspora has made at the Accra Institute of Technology (AIT). It was really exciting the share my thoughts on the show.

Indeed, African academics in the diaspora are looking for ways to connect with colleagues in Africa, to give back to the African community and this could be in the form of:

  • Guest lectures,
  • Sharing ideas and resources
  • Collaborating on research project
  • Submitting joint proposal for African research grants
  • University visit,
  • External examinership activities for undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral programmes.
  • Assist with course development.
  • We are looking for possible area of collaboration for mutual benefits.
  • Partnership with our UK Universities
  • Attract students to Europe with possible scholarship
  • Organise conference
  • Be consultants for research Centres and Institutes
  • Share expertise and experience
  • Teaching observation

Funding should not be a barrier for this collaboration.
