Laura-Jane studied for her first degree at the University of Northampton where she was awarded a BA (Hons) in English with Music. She then went on to gain an MA with distinction in Modern English Studies before completing her teacher training. Following this, she worked at a local secondary school in Northampton before moving to Bali, Indonesia, to teach at a private international school.
She returned to study in the UK through a fully-funded AHRC award and gained a PhD in English Literature at De Montfort University. Following the completion of her doctorate she commenced another international secondary teaching post in Thailand, before settling back in the UK.
Laura-Jane’s thesis was entitled ‘Speculative Fiction by Twenty-First Century Women Writers’. Her main research interest lies within contemporary feminisms and literary representations of the future female, with a particular focus on the body as a locus of choice.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
