Biography

For more than 20 years Lorna has published widely on horror, science fiction, the vampire, cult television, and television drama. She count over 50 monographs, book chapters, or refereed papers in my publications record, including chapters in two award-winning books, and have given invited or keynote presentations at two international meetings. She regularly peer review for journals (e.g. Critical Studies in Television) and publishers (such as Routledge, Scarecrow Press, Palgrave) across a broad spectrum of television, film and genre areas. As Principal Investigator on the AHRC-funded Cult TV: TV Cultures network project she coordinated the On TV festival, run in collaboration with the Showroom cinema, Sheffield. Lorna co-organised TV Fangdom: A Conference on Television Vampires (2013, University of Northampton), Daughter of Fangdom (April 2015, University of Roehampton), and the 2016 Slayage Conference on the Whedonverses. She has supervised 5 PhDs to completion.

Lorna Jowett is currently Reader in Television Studies at the University of Northampton, Faculty of Arts, Science and Technology (UK).

Lorna has published widely on television, film and popular culture during her career with particular focus on:

  • television drama

Lorna teaches Film and Screen Studies and Creative Media Production within the Faculty of Arts, Science and Technology at The University of Northampton. She teaches across several modules including:
