Dr Sarah Mansbridge

I studied Psychology at Oxford Brookes University at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels (obtaining a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and MRes in Developmental Psychology respectively). After completing my studies, I worked as an RA in the department on two projects examining the Psychology of Ultralow Carbon Vehicle Usage: the UK MINI E field trials (6-month field trials of the electric MINI) and the UK Technology Strategy Board (TSB) Ultralow Carbon Vehicle (ULCV) Demonstrator Programme (involving low-emission vehicles from eight consortia). I then went onto study for a PhD in this area. Specifically, my PhD focused on drivers’ psychology adaption to the limited range of the battery electric vehicle (BEV). Shortly after completing my doctorate in September 2018, I joined the University of Northampton, initially as an Associate Lecturer before becoming a Lecturer in Psychology.

I am a chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).

My research interest is broadly in the area of social change. More specifically, my research has focused on two areas:

• Psychology of electric vehicle usage
• EDI related issues (students’ mental health, BME community & STEM inequalities)
