Biography

Dr Triantafyllos Kanakis is the Programme Leader of Computer Networks Engineering at the University of Northampton, UK. He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Chartered Manager (CMgr) of CMI and member of the IEEE. He has more than 15 years of experience in cellular and wireless communications engineering, multiple antenna systems and cooperative communications. He has been the keynote speaker in numerous events worldwide, he is in the editorial board of the Karbala International Journal of Modern Science, he has acted as a technical committee member of various conferences in the field of telecommunications engineering while he has served as a reviewer to numerous conferences and journals, including the IEEE Access. He has numerous publications in leading journals and conferences, while he is co-author to the Best Paper Award winning work in Forward Error Correction presented in IEEE CEEC 2016.

He has worked for AT&T, the world's largest networks provider as a network engineer, for Explanotech a consulting and training company in mobile communications, and a large constructions firm such as Buro
Happold as a technology consultant. He worked at the University of Greenwich as a Senior Lecturer in Wireless and Mobile Communications while he has served his mandatory military services, with the rank of corporal, at the Hellenic Navy. He has been the main editor of the technology columns of www.in-thenews.gr and the Athens Views newspaper.

Triantafyllos is the main organised of the UoN IoT Workshop and the IEEE student branch manager at the UoN. He has long experience in the industry where he has work as a network specialist at AT\&T, a technical consultant and technical trainer in the LTE\/4G era and more recently as a technology consultant in the constructions sector. He has served the Hellenic Navy as part of his mandatory national military service. He received his PhD from the University of Greenwich, MBA from the University of Northampton, MSc from King's College of London and BEng from the University of Portsmouth.

He joined the University of Northampton, Department of Computing, in 2014 as a Lecturer in Computer Networks later promoted to Senior Lecturer and Computer Networks Engineering pathway leader.
